I’m Audrey, and I’m a freelance writer, editor, and writing coach.
Born in the Oil Capital of Alabama, Citronelle, I made my way to Birmingham by way of the University of Montevallo, where I earned a B.A. in English. I write stories about growing up and living in the South, confronting our history and stereotypes head-on as I reflect on my own life and values while continuously educating myself and challenging the norm.
I’ve been published in The Washington Post, The Bitter Southerner‘s Folklore Project, Alabama Media Group’s “It’s a Southern Thing,” “Reckon,” and “This Is Alabama,” and Mobile Bay Magazine, among others.

I’m also an accomplished artist who works in watercolor, oils, and pen and ink, and I am an avid crocheter. I make a mean cocktail and an even meaner pot of gumbo. I’ve walked every single day since January 1, 2022 for at least 30 minutes. And I’ve been known to break out into spontaneous dance in public much to my husband’s mortification, but I think he’s used to it now.
